Vwaire Diaso: Lagos Govt commences investigation, unveils findings in 48hrs
The Lagos State Government has commenced an investigation into the elevator accident that killed a medical doctor, Vwaere Daiso, at the General Hospital, Odan, in Lagos Island.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Olumide Sogunle dsclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
Sogunle revealed that the investigation panel has 48 hours to report its findings.
He noted that the elevator installer had been handed over to the police for questioning.
Sogunle: “Following the unfortunate elevator accident, which claimed the life of a medical doctor, Dr Vwaire Daiso, at the General Hospital, Odan, Lagos-Island, and the directive of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for an immediate and thorough inquiry into the accident, the Lagos State Government has commenced investigations.
He said: “A Panel comprising the Chairman of the Lagos State Health Service Commission (HSC), Permanent Secretary of the Health Service Commission, Director-General of the Safety Commission, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health; House officers and representatives of the medical associations, has been set up.
“The Panel met with the Facility Manager, personnel of LASIAMA and the management of General Hospital, Lagos. The Panel also met with the lift installer and the company’s representatives that installed the elevator.
“The Panel also invited a lift expert to the accident scene to look at the lift and give a preliminary opinion. Other experts would now take the elevator out for a thorough mechanical and electrical examination.”
The death of Diaso led to the shutdown of Lagos General Hospital on the island by the Nigerian Medical Association, pending when the investigation is completed, and Justice is served.
Kemi Kilani News reported that Daiso died from injuries sustained from a collapsed elevator.
