Serie A: Osimhen becomes first African to player to win Capocannoniere

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has become the first African footballer to win the Capocannoniere.

Osimhen netted his 26th goal in the Serie A this season as they beat Sampdoria 2-0 on Sunday.

The champions bossed the possession and created a lot of chances. However, they were unable to score. Osimhen registered three shots, but none of them resulted in a goal.

The Partenopeans started the second half well, and they eventually got the lead in the 64th minute, and it was Osimhen who came through. The 24-year-old striker won a penalty after he was manhandled in the box. He made no mistake from close range, dispatching comfortably from the spot to make it 1-0 for the Partenopeans. It was also his 26th goal of the season.

Osimhen was taken off in the 76th minute and replaced by Giovanni Simeone, who later doubled Napoli’s lead in the 87th minute.

With 26 goals, Osimhen took home the Capocannoniere, becoming the first African to do so.
