Champions League: Kane, Mbappe score braces as Bayern Munich, PSG qualify

Kylian Mbappe netted a brace as Paris Saint-Germain qualified for the Champions League quarter-final with a comfortable 2-1 victory at Real Sociedad in their round of 16 second leg.

The result wrapped up a 4-1 aggregate victory on Tuesday.

Mbappe scored the opener with a fabulous curling strike in the 15th minute.

The France captain scored again in the 56th minute as he took a Lee Kang-in through ball in his stride before bursting into the box and beating the goalkeeper at his near post.

Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino netted a consolation goal in the 89th minute with a deflected strike.

Bayern Munich secured a comprehensive 3-0 (Agg: 3-1) victory over Lazio at the Allianz Arena to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg and reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Ciro Immobile’s penalty gave Lazio a 1-0 win in the first leg of their last-16 tie in Rome last month, but first-half goals from Harry Kane and Thomas Muller turned the tie on its head before the break in Munich on Tuesday as Lazio rued a big missed opportunity with the score still 0-0.
