Ondo People Know What They Want, Nothing Like Vote-Buying On My Behalf- APC’s Ayedatiwa 

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has denied alleged involvement in vote-buying activities, following his recent electoral victory in the just concluded gubernatorial poll in the state.

Ayedatiwa led this out on Sunday, after he was declared winner by Independent National Electoral Commission.

The incumbent Governor, representing rulling All Prepgressive Congress, won all 18 local government areas in the Sunshine state on Saturday.

INFORMATION NIGERIA reports that following the announcement, made by INEC, some political parties and electoral observers have been accusing APC of allegedly buying votes.

Opposition parties also described the poll as worst election to be conducted in Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with Channel TV on Sunday night, Governor Ayedatiwa noted that his opponents are using the vote-buying allegation as an excuse for their loss.

He said: “I’m not aware of such. The opposition will want to say that to make excuses for their failure, but for us, it is what we worked for; the people have spoken through their votes.

”There won’t be any reason to buy votes because Ondo people know what they want. I’m not aware of people buying votes on my behalf.

Speaking over alleged violence and rift between him and Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Ajayi Agboola, Ayedatiwa said: “Both of us (including Agboola Ajayi) served under the late governor (Rotimi Akeredolu) and they knew our relationship with the late principal.

“We have access to one another and a free flow of communication. We have no bad blood, which also doesn’t exist this time.

“During our engagement with INEC at the stakeholders meeting, we shook hands and related very well.”

Recall that the State Returning Officer, Prof Olayemi Akinwumi, said announced that Ayedatiwa of APC polled 366,781 to defeat his closest rival, Ajayi, who garnered 117,845 votes.
