Investigate Partner’s Family History Before Marriage
Veteran actress, singer, and film producer, Shan George, has emphasised the importance of conducting thorough investigations into the families of prospective partners before marriage.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, George stated, “I will advise that like it used to be done in the past, please do an investigation into a person’s family history, genotype, and other important issues before marriage.”
George attributed the prevalence of domestic violence and spousal abuse to the cultural norms that give men more authority at home.

She noted, “Based on our culture that generally gives a man more authority at home, many perpetrators get away with it.”
The actress commended the public outcry against recent murder and abuse cases in Nigeria.
However, she observed that the outrage often subsides once security agents begin handling the cases.
George said, “There’s a good outrage about such a situation already.
“Also, I believe such outrage usually draws the attention of the security agents, and once they are already handling the case, it’s normal for people to back down a bit.”
