Insecurity, unemployment dominate NEPAD/APRM summit

The second African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) of the NEPAD programme have considered insecurity and unemployment in Nigeria.

Member of the governing council of NEPAD/APRM representing the North Central geo-political zone Mrs Tawakalitu Olayemi Yusuf stated this on Thursday in Lafia during the North Central zonal town hall meeting.

The town hall meeting with the country review mission (CRM) was for the validation of country self-assessment report (CSAR) on the ongoing second peer review.

She said the first meeting of the council considered some recommendations which include that efforts should be made to make our political system to be accountable, efficient with an effective public service delivery to address challenges the people face on daily basis, particularly security of lives and properties.

Others include economic policies of the government should be focused to create employment for the teeming population of unemployed youths which also urged the government to redouble efforts in the fight against corruption and other vices.

“Promoting accelerated broad-based participation in development to alleviate poverty, inequality and equal access to a development programme to positively manage Nigeria diversity for national unity through transformational leadership,” he said.
