INEC Removes Ebiseni, Restores Olorunfemi As LP Candidate
In a surprising turn of events, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has replaced Olusola Ebiseni with Olorunfemi Ayodele Festus as the Labour Party (LP) candidate for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election.
This decision comes after INEC received the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Court of Appeal’s ruling, which overturned the Federal High Court’s judgment in Abuja Division.
The Federal High Court had initially ordered INEC to recognize Olusola Ebiseni as the Labour Party candidate on September 27, 2024.

However, the Labour Party filed an appeal, reference number CA/ABJ/CV/1172/2024, challenging the decision.
The Court of Appeal struck out the Federal High Court’s judgment due to lack of jurisdiction.

According to INEC’s Friday statement, “In obedience to the court order, the commission has restored Olorunfemi Ayodele Festus, whose name was first published as the Labour Party candidate for the 2024 Ondo State Governorship election and uploaded same to our website for public information.”
Information Nigeria reports that LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiorah Ifoh, clarified that Olusola Ebiseni was the candidate chosen by the NLC group within the Party.
However, he said the Appeal Court’s ruling has now reinstated Dr. Olorunfemi Ayodele Festus as “the valid candidate.”
This development comes just days before the Ondo State governorship election, scheduled for November 16, 2024.
The election will see candidates from 17 political parties vying for the top spot.
