Group warns against use of brutality against Igbo youths, decries military siege in southeast
The World Igbo Peoples Assembly (WIPAS), a sociopolitical organization, has warned against the use of brutality and force to threaten the people of the southeast region.
The group also warned that the continuous killing of igbo youths by disgruntled security agents of government may spark another civil war.
WIPAS gave the warning in a release signed by its Board of Trustees Chairman, Mazi Chuks Ibegbu and made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday, calling on the federal government to halt the military siege in the southeast zone, and as well the abduction and killing of Igbo youths under the guise of Eastern Security Network (ESN).
“We cannot accept these backlashes, These our janjaweed army is now a killer-go army and must be brought to book by the International Court for criminal justice at the Hague, “the group posited.
The Igbo Assembly further called on the federal government to immediately arrest the military man that shot a German born Igbo businessman at Ngor Okpala in Imo State and those that masterminded the killing of some Igbo youths labelled as IPOB and ESN and killed on false information that they killed Ahmed Gulak.
The World Igbo Peoples Assembly berated President Buhari over his alleged insensitivity, urging him to address the nation on her various challenges rather than being holed up at the Presidential villa and claim to be following the constitution.
The sociopolitical body called on the people of the northern Nigeria to disregard the insinuations by some elements that have held the nation down for years and are now trying to shift the blame on innocent Igbos.
According to WIPAS, “these people have misruled the North and Nigeria over the years and now want to shift the burden to Igbos who are demanding their rights. These elements created Boko Haram, killer herdsmen, bandits…etc and want to heap the blame on the South East. The talakawas in the North must resist being used as a tool to perpetrate the agenda of these clueless rulers”.
