Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the provision of 8,000 hectare-cluster farm by dry season rice production in Jigawa State.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Mr Auwalu Danladi Sankara which was made available to our reporter in Dutse, the state capital.

He said the governor made the commendation during an inspection visit to the Federal Government’s cluster farms projects in Auyo, Jahun and Hadejia in the state.

According to the statement, the governor expressed the hope that the state would soon overtake Kebbi State in rice production to be the largest rice producer in the country.

“With the 2,000 hectares irrigation facility recently inaugurated in Kazaure, the 6,000 hectares irrigation in Hadejia and Auyo Valley, ancho-borrower programme and our cluster farming programme we are surely going to lead in agriculture in the country,” he added.

The statement further stated that: “The yield and the areas covered in these communities are so enormous that no state can compete with Jigawa in terms of production.”

He noted that the state government also under its cluster program in the ministry of Agriculture has engaged thousands of farming families and has supported them with seed, fertiliser, and insecticides.

He said this is in line with the Buhari-led administration’s effort of diversifying the economy and alleviating millions out of poverty.
