EPL: Michael Owen, Cesc Fabregas disagree over referee’s crucial decision in Arsenal, Man City clash
Football pundits, Michael Owen and Cesc Fabregas have disagreed over referee Michael Oliver not sending off Mateo Kovacic during Arsenal Premier League game against Manchester City.
Fabregas was of the opinion that the Croatia International midfielder should have been given a second yellow card for a foul on Martin Odegaard minutes after he was cautioned for a similar offence.
However, Owen shared a different opinion as both former Premier League stars argued on Premier League Production live television.
“It’s just a red card. I think the ball was a little high and Odegaard had his leg on it. He was lucky,” Fabregas said, citing a similar scenario with the player during City’s game with Newcastle United.
Owen said, “I just don’t think it’s enough for a yellow. There’s a touch on the boot but his boot wasn’t high.
“His boot was floating in the air and there was no plan for a flick…I think it’s a bit more like a foul but not enough for a yellow. So, I’m quite comfortable with the referee’s decision.”
